Workshop Description
Chronic exposure to client trauma places clinicians at increased risk for burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma, all of which can impair ethical decision-making and clinical effectiveness. This workshop examines the ethical responsibility of counselors to monitor impairment and engage in proactive self-care. Participants will explore the physiological and psychological impact of trauma work and identify ethical self-care strategies that support professional longevity, competence, and client safety. Learning Objectives Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to: Identify signs of burnout and vicarious trauma that may impact ethical practice. Apply ethical self-monitoring strategies to reduce professional impairment. Integrate sustainable self-care practices into ongoing professional functioning.
