Workshop Description

This workshop is not “your sit back, relax, multitask workshop” lecture presentation. Rather, the presenters want attendees to participate, ask questions, bring up difficult situations they have encountered and as a group work to resolve ethical dilemmas. It opens with key highlights of the ACA Code of Ethics and the decision making process. . Ethical dilemmas will be presented and examined as a group. This workshop would most benefit fully licensed professionals as well as associate licensed professionals. The goal is for attendees to leave more confident in their ability to handle ethical dilemmas and have a practical decision making procedure for themselves. This VIRTUAL workshop offers 5 CEs in Ethics (5 CEs) Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to: Identify ethical risks and responsibilities specific to trauma-informed counseling practice. Apply ethical decision-making models to trauma-related clinical dilemmas. Integrate trauma-informed principles into ethical documentation and professional boundaries. Presenter: Carolyn A. Ramp, LPC, NCC, ACS, CPCS Carolyn Ramp’s career in mental health spans over 30 years. Her experience includes outpatient clinical work in agencies, school systems, as well as building and managing a multi-specialty private practice of 18 therapists. She’s earned a master’s degree in 1993 and A Specialist’s Degree in Counseling in 2000. She was President of LPCAGA in 2019 -2020. Her specialties include Clinical Supervision for over 20 years, working with the families of the Personality Disordered, teaching parenting strategies as a Love and Logic Facilitator and she is a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist. Presenter: Gregory K. Moffatt, Ph.D., LPC, CPCS Gregory K. Moffatt is a counselor, college professor, and public speaker who’s been in private practice for 35 years. Dr. Moffatt has written, lectured and consulted in the area of violent behavior since 1993. For over a decade he was a regular lecturer at the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA and he has consulted with Delta Airlines, U.S. Airways, Westinghouse Corporation, Johns Manville, law enforcement agencies, and numerous other businesses and schools. He has assisted law enforcement in the investigation of unsolved homicide cases and specializes in the assessment and prevention of homicidal and violent behavior.
