Workshop Description

This second in the series workshop is designed specifically for mental health therapists who want to understand the purpose and use of assessments in mental health and the benefits for their patients. Georgia is one of the few states that allows LPCs to offer assessments to their patients. Come learn the use of assessments for diagnosing and treatment planning. Learn how to be able to effectively communicate regarding assessments with your patients. Help them understand the benefits of assessment. You’ll also be able to bill accordingly for the assessments. You’ll learn how to code appropriately so no claims are denied. Learn key terminology and documentation required for billing, common pitfalls and how to avoid them, understand ethical considerations in billing and the tools and software that can simplify the billing process. By the end of this workshop, attendees will have a clearer understanding of how to confidently handle insurance billing and increase their revenue. This workshop offers 5 CORE Continuing Education Credits (5 CEs) VIRTUAL Presenter: JOY F. WELCKER, PhD, LPC, OMC, CPCS Dr. Welcker has worked independently in the field of mental health for almost 20 years. She completed an Education Specialist degree in School Psychology in 2003 and a Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Neuropsychology in 2013.She completed her formal studies with a 2-year post-doctoral Fellowship in Augusta, GA in Neuropsychology with a focus on neuro-diagnostic assessment and developmental trauma. She opened Brighter Brains Integrative Health Group in Statesboro, GA in March of 2017, where she continues to practice brain-based assessment and neurobiologically-informed interventions to improve cognitive, emotional, and physical functioning for clients of all ages. Dr. Welcker currently holds licenses in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. She enjoys nature, hiking, biking, traveling, and time with family. Presenter: Carolyn A. Ramp, LPC, NCC, ACS, CPCS Carolyn Ramp’s career in mental health spans over 30 years. Her experience includes outpatient clinical work in agencies, school systems, as well as building and managing a multi-specialty private practice of 18 therapists. She’s earned a master’s degree in 1993 and A Specialist’s Degree in Counseling in 2000. She was President of LPCAGA in 2019 -2020.
