Workshop Description

Working with first responders presents a unique challenge to mental health workers. Police officers, firepersons, and members of the military are reluctant to pursue treatment because of potential ramifications on their reputations, but also the possibility that they might lose their jobs. One national agency requires all employees to notify a supervisor if one is seeking mental health services for any reason. Their reluctance to seek treatment is understandable. Understanding the uniqueness of this population is critical in order to effectively get them into treatment and keep them there. For different specifics, but similar reasons, members of the media and entertainment industry are also reluctant to seek treatment. This population will also be addressed. Finally, attendees will be exposed to the ethics of working with news outlets, pod casters, movie makers, and other media organizations. This workshop offers 3 Core Continuing Education credits (3 CEs). THIS IS A VIRTUAL WORKSHOP. During this virtual workshop, your video must be turned on to receive your CEs. We must be able to attest that you attended the workshop. Presenter: Gregory K. Moffatt, Ph.D., LPC, CPCS Gregory K.
